Philips- DVP5990 – Multi Region DVD Player 1080P – upscaling

This is a DVD of the first order for those whose taste in movies is going beyond what is currently offered by U.S. companies. Personally, I hate it, to thank you for what companies think I should not, or can be seen in the situation, and I’m really happy to find such a great player region-free.
< , br /> So far it has treated all my DVDs without any problem. Region 2 DVD in Japan? Large rooms. Region 2 PAL DVD of the Netherlands? No problems. (Really a shame that Orson Wells classic “Falstaff” has no U.S. release, but that just shows why a region-free player is required.)
Outside DVD These CD players converted, DivX and everything I put into it. It even has a USB port, so if you download anything you can just pop in a memory stick and flash player.
Unfortunately I do not upscaling function is not used because I was not a high definition television. But if it has, and everything works well on this player, so I guess I have nothing to fear, and we look forward to trying it.

This player is better than two previous models of Philips DVD player I (5140, 3140). Also, my remote has been shown a smooth black, not gray, comes with the older models. The player set is very thin and smooth.
It plays music CD’s (standard Audio CD or MP3), DVD PAL or NTSC format (including AVI files on a disk too). NOTE: PAL is the standard in England (Phase Alternating Line) and NTSC, originating in the United States and Japan (National Television System Committee) is. With these two videos playable encoding standard, you can play almost every DVD available. You can also MP3 and video (AVI, MPG, MP4, etc.) on a USB device and play them directly connected to the front of the reader. Very convenient! I love it!
Also nice that when DVDs were (DVD is playable on all players, not data DVDs with AVI files) said. So you just have your favorite movie, your spouse has to watch a DVD for work. No problem, open your DVD. She sees this film. Pop back and sell it immediately starts where you left off! (Or you can PREV pressure to start from the front). Should really be an interesting option!
You change the region 0 (region free – accept discs from any region of the world, which is not the same as PAL / NTSC). I saw some previous commentators have been puzzled by this distinction. This drive can both PAL and NTSC format, and the entire region encoded discs play whenever you change down.

I ordered this particular player to play DVDs Columbia. All comments seemed interesting. But if I wanted to play a region 2 DVD, I have an error message box on the screen. Most critics have said that their device worked immediately. I felt confused and read all the documentation several times, but no comment on how this player region free. I read then write another of the Amazon, I needed to change the zone from 1-0 (my area on the back said, “said Region 1). Why does not my player, while others do? So I followed his instructions and they now play Region 2 DVDs fine, including my region 1s.
